A bischt is a coat or cloak worn by Omani men, usually for ceremonial purposes.

Actually, mostly they are worn by royalty.
Being the radical that I am, I couldn’t see why women couldn’t wear them too. So I started to make some for myself.I call them “walking coats.” Some are casual and I wear them for shopping.

Some are for more elaborate, and I wear them “to work” when meeting with clients.

But they are really lady bischts! I feel like royalty when I wear one.The tradition of long overcoats goes back in Arab history.
And it is still integral to modern fashion. In the Arab world, a lady’s abaya is essentially a long overcoat.

Beyond the Arab world, long overcoats have become fascinating and fashionable.

My bischts are inspired by coats from other times and places.
